What do you think is better, Gravel or sand. I personally use sad after a disasterous attempt of my brothers to use it. but I want to see everyones opinion for a general Freshwater Aquarium. What would be Ideal to use?

I've only ever used gravel, so I'm going to have to go with gravel. I'd like to have a sand tank sometime, but it just seems like so much more trouble...

If I were to choose sand vs. gravel, I think I'd stick with gravel as far as freshwater tanks are concerned. I tried the sand thing because I love the way it looked. The error was trying the sand in a goldfish tank. Wrong move. The sand was a lot of work, was constantly stirred up, and just plain got on my nerves trying to maintain it. I wound up switching back to gravel and am glad I did.

dito.
I have a layer of Ecco complete under the gravel in one of my tanks but I can't tell if it's doing any good as the plants seem fine in both thanks.

I have used gravel for all my tanks and it seems to work the best for me <-----No N this time
