Subterranean Cave Effect

How would you produce stalactites hanging from the top of the tank? What materials and method would produce this effect, and make an excellent biotope for blind cave tetras?
I've been kicking this idea around in my head for months and I really want to do it. The lighting would be just one single white LED aimed at an angle from far away.

Silicone them to your cover glass.

you could use eggcrate to make a partial false ceiling... or just make a paludarium with the land portion overhaning most of the water. oooh.

at a place called crystal cave in pa u can buy bits of the stuff that stalagmites and stalagtites come from....they are small in a hand or comaptred to real but i would assume that...if u hang them....(got the idea)

other thing is...
why not swirl some ge silcone I - brown, white, clear.....into various shades of yelowish, whitish, brownish ones (sort of sculpt them) once they cure they wont be quite as shiny but shiney enough to look real.

either carve them or use GreatStuff, spray foam on your lid, then coat seal etc.
