Suction cups

Why don't they last? I have my airline tubeing suction cupped to the sidewall and after about a yr the suction cups don't seem to hold. same thing with the cup holding the thermometor, and the ones holding my old filter that hung in hte tank w/ suction cups.

Are we doomed to replace every suction cup every 9 months or so?

I gave up on suction cups a long time ago. Durability is a function of the material they are made from and I suspect water conditions.

Unfortunately suction cups are largely short-lived items. When I have to replace them in dozens, I find this frustrating, but I have to deal with it.
