Suggestions for an interesting cull eater?

+1, i think convicts would be better, maybe too small? they'll breed too if its a pairs....... maybe single one?

I'm into oddball fish so I'd go with a Ctenopoma or an African Butterfly Fish.

I was thinking along those same lines. African butterfly fish, especially, are REALLY cool IMO. They have a lot of personality.

a yellow bellied slider could fit in a 29 gallon but theyll need some land and a uvb bulb and a basking light.

Definitely not a suitable choice IMO.

its a doable choice. ive had a yellow bellied turtle and the minimum tank size is 29 gallond. they also dont need that much land bc they are mostly aquatic. i dont know if they would eat fish or not, but it would work, and its just a suggestion of a turtle that would work.

yea my turtle suggestion wasnt very good sorry everybody. i dont know where i read 29 gallon minimum. id do a crayfish or a firemouth cichlid personally. i dnt know what kind of betta could eat guppies. my king betta doesnt even look big enough unless there are some big bettas i dont know about.

Thanks for the suggestions and discussion everyone, please keep the ideas coming!

The Ctenopoma looks really interesting, except I just read that it needs a 55 gallon minimum. The African butterfly is kinda cool/ugly... the guys in the house might like that... and the minimum tank size seems to be 30 gallons so that would work. I still like the idea of a crayfish too though. My guppies do tend to stay at the top of the tank when they think it's time to eat, but otherwise they are often swimming all over the tank so I think that if the crayfish were hungry it wouldn't have to work too hard to catch one.

Now I'm off to go look up the redfin pickerel... :)

WHY NOT POST A PHOTO OF THEM WITH THE PRICE THAT YOUR WILLING TO ACCEPT, MUCH BETTER THAN THE FATE YOU HAVE IN STORE FOR THEM..
