Suggestions for Eheim filter?

I'm pretty sure I'm ordering an Eheim 2128 filter and am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for filter media to get with it. I realize I don't need to use Eheim for all of it so I'm open to different ideas. Thanks.

For my Ehiem I stuffed one tray with filter pads and the other tray I filled up with mini lava rocks.

Eheim makes their own media and they are one of the best. I use the ehfimech and ehfisubstrat on mine.

I run two Eheim 2026-
One has efimech and the blue pad in the bottom tray. The top tray has a floss pad covered with efistrat topped with another floss pad and then the Eheim fine pad.
The second has AquaClear sponges cut to fit and the blue pad in the bottom and a similar top to the first.

I would of used the Ehiem media except the lava rock was only $4 for a 25 lb bag.
