Suggestions for setting up a triple tank shelf?

at sams club they had the 48 inch one on wheels. 20 long seems to be the sweet point for type of shelf. i sure wouldnt trust it on wheels.
i spent a lot of time looking for shelfs for tanks. i found a super heavy duty 72 long shelf. the max weight fell short a little of being able to safely putting 3x100 gall longs on it. i am going to keep looking but the idea of a 3 rack of 100 gal tanks sound wonderful......

you could build a sturdy shelf for 2 20gal longs with 8 pieces of wood total.
i have such a shelf that was made specifically for 2 20gal longs. there's a nice space on top of the bottom tank where you can hang a 24" shoplight quite nicely.

! A pic says more than lots of text .Principally, yes. Practically, no. As I said, I've got a rented apartment, no workshop. And wire shelves have the advantage that you can easily fix something below a shelf. And it doesn't matter if that shelf gets a bit warmerThe PBM said:

It's got 2 10's on top of it in a T at the moment (20" long + 10" wide = exactly 30". actually had to slide the tank straight down to fit on there) and an empty 20 long on the bottom. but you can see what a good fit it is for that 20. the second 20 would go where the 10's are.

so the 8 pieces of wood are:
2 side panels.
each shelf takes 3 pieces- top pieces, front skirt, back skirt. the skirts provide lateral support, and each shelf is reinforced with blocks on each corner, wood glued and bolted in.

right, a triple stand would be too tall in my opinion, you would definitely need a stepladder to get to the top one and if you have low ceilings then it's even more of a pain.
would 3 tanks vertical fit in your place? you said you live in an apartment. i live in an apartment and 3 tall would not be convenient.
