I am gradually preparing the set-up fopr my 125 g. I will be doing a great portion via DIY. However, I will need to by a good sump pump. I have seen quite a few listed on various on-line hardware distributor websites. Does anyone feel adamant about a brand to either avoid or utilize? lastly, what is the minimum GPH I should use?

Thanks for the advice.

I'm still looking around for a good one myself. I will tell you to stay away from Rio brand pumps though. I've got one of them and its loud as hell, plus they break and leak oil in your aquarium.
I'm thinking Iwaki (spelling?) might be the way to go. Hear lots of good stuff about those.

I am not sure. I had assumed submersed, but I have no preference other than to get the quietest most efficient and reliable pump for the money.
The GPH will depend on your overflow setup. Is the tank drilled with overflow boxes? If so, what size are the holes/bulkheads?
Yes the tank is drilled, but I will have to repond again later, after work when I can get the exact dimensions and location. I do not have any boxes for the overflows installed yet and I am not sure how to do this. I Love the DIY stuff, but the plumbing intimidates me greatly.

I think I can see where you are going with the GPH as I understand the physics in that you can only get so much volume through a certain sized diameter of a hole.

Will re-post with dimension later tonight.
