Is there anyway to use a 20g tank as a sump for a 90g without drilling any holes at all? I figured I could use an old 20g just to raise the total amount of water and maybe put plants in it(cichlid tank so I can't put plants in the 90). Then when I started looking into it there is alot more work to do then I thought.

You can probably do this if you have plenty of tubing/piping to link them up. Holding them in place may be difficult though. Just put the tube from your overflow straight into the sump (you probably need to find a way to fasten it) and then use a pump or vacumn pipe (like a gravel vacumn) to take the water out of the sump back up. Just have to position the intake and outake so that you arnt just sucking back up the tank water before it goes through what ever filter media you are using
