Superglue is used to seal wounds. I don't think you need worry about toxicity.

+1, Reefers sleep with a bottle next to them. Not harmful at all. Gel is easier to work with.

Another endorsement for Loctite. It's the only bottle that hasn't dried up on me after repeated use. Most of the other cyanoacrylate glue like the Krazy glue brand just dry up after you use it once or twice.

Yep! I use the locktite from home depot or lowes. I works great take a look:

I haven't used super glue, but I don't think you will suffocate the rhizome if you use it sparingly.
I HAVE used cotton thread, and it actually takes years to break down.
