Hello all,
I have a question maybe some here will be able to answer it for me.
I been searching for what they call them when I was in my teens back about 25 or 30 yrs ago (yes I'm up there in age )were called Super Guppies they were about 3 -3.5" long with the fancy tails and colors just like the fancy guppies that you see today in pet shops but there only about 1.5 -2" long , They were somewhat rare to find back in the day but at times you could by them, prices where around $15.00 to $20.00 for a trio 1 male -2 females , most shops had private or local breeders breeding them locally.

Has anyone see them around or now where I can purchase a few breeding pairs

Thank Al.

:joke: Usually at my fish store they're between the Green Lantern Tetras and the Spider-Man Crabs. They are compatible with Wonder Discus and the Fantastic Four Spot Gouramis.

Al,

I too am a shall we say more mature :D person, and I also remember the super guppies. In fact I was talking to my LFS just last week about them. I'm just getting back into freshwater again after about a fifteen year saltwater adventure. I remember them just as you discribed them. They were awesome! If you manage to hunt down a breeder, PLEASE let me know. :thm:

Thank for all the replys

Hello abraham, Glad someone remembers them my wife thinks I crazy I show here the reg, size fancy guppies which are what 1.5 to 2 " long told her to double that size maybe even bigger the bodies on the Gaint Super guppies had to be the size of a Mollies with this HUGH fancy tail which was so big and heavy most would hang down like a large goldfish tail

I find them yet somewhere in USA must be able to get them from over sea I think they where mainly from China .

yes I will do let ya know I been searching the net but no luck ,I going to ask around LFS and also a few of my Koi and Fancy Goldfish Keepers and Friends , Which Is my other love I'm a koi keeper with 60 Koi rangeing from 12" to 32" in size , I just start this year keeping Fancy goldfish due to the wife love them- with 3 out doors ponds 6000 gal. for the Koi and two 250 gal ponds for the goldfish -I have 3 indoor winter basement ponds 1200- 900-and 800 gallons for winter over the Koi and a 300 gallon indoor pond in my house/room for the Fancy goldfish

I saw one HUGE guppie in an lfs near me recently. It was a female and I had never seen a guppy that large before...but I think there was just the one and it was at LEAST 3 inches !
Could it have been a female Gambusia? The females almost look the same but the Gambusia are huge. I had some 3 inch females for a long time here.
