So I'm wondering if anyone has used or has any experience with very large system filtration?
I am currently looking at the emperor aquatics commercial line for aquariums. They make some systems for large public aquaria etc.
I have also looked at lifeguard aquatics commercial line as well.
Just wondering is one better than the other? More bang for the buck vs other systems?
The guy at one of the LFS suggested I use 5 or 6 fluval FX5's on the 2000 gallon acrylic tank I will b getting. I thought this was ridiculous and wanted to go toward the larger, commercial style route for ease of maintenance.
Any ideas?

I would use a large wet/dry or some other efficient biofilter and a sand filter for a system of that size.

Agreed, I would do a sump (probably remote for ease of access) with wet/dry for biological filtration and a separate stage for mech.

suggest you look at the "Indoor / Outdoor Pond" section here, since they routinely deal with that much water. there are a lot of workable DIY methods, especially if you can more or less remotely locate the filter system. remote location is something you really ought to do -- at least into the next room -- both to avoid the distraction while viewing your fish, and to simplify maintenance

Ya to get the tank into the house I will be knocking down a wall, and there will be a pump/filter house on the other side with a full-size door left of the aquarium to acres the room from the house. The tank is already gonna be 5ft tall without any sort if stand so any equipment under the thing won't be possible. It will also be placed in an elevated concrete slab being that the weight of the aquarium is calculated to be just over 21,000lbs when full. It boggles my mind to think that this massive thing is going in my house :)
