heres some updated, my green plakats are now over 2 weeks old since they were hatch FEB 1 2007, all frys are in excellent conditions, but still too small to show in a camera shot specially that they are now free swimming around and scatterd all over the place.
anyways here's a video showing my SUPER RED Halfmoon plakat frys, Hatch date Nov.2006, there where at least 60 frys from both 5 gallon tank and 20 more from the original breeding tank ( not shown ) these came from one SPAWN so i have a total of 80 frys survive, i think i have lost less than 20 frys from this spawn, and the other breeding tank beside it shows my BLACK ORANGE halfmoon plakats hatch date DEC. 2006. there where at least 50 frys, its a small spawn and since DEC. ive lost 2 frys. ( hehe i do count each lost, unless i never got to see it for some times ive seen them eating thier dead brothers and sisters )

from my observation or should i say from my point of view, the best way to get a high survival rate is feeding them fresh water rotifers and Artemia at the early stage, these organisms are being fed with ROTI-RICH mix with green water and MICRO-VET diet, these gives the rotifers and newly hatch artemia good nutrients that the frys can get once they eat them, even my green water culture are being fed with MICRO GROW so even the green water has nutrients.
after 2 months then i add ATISON's BETTA STARTER to thier feeding cycle, and thats my key! forget those nasty vinegar eel, micro worms etc. and heres a thing that ive just tried and it was a sucess, fresh water ROTIFERS dosen't need areation and will do better without it, also they don't really need light, they infact reproduce faster in the dark, i took out the areation in on 15 gallon plastic drum and now the rotifer culture are massive, you can see the thick white dots swimming on the surface, and i harvest them daily with a 53 micron zoo plankton collector and feed them to my small frys
