Support Glow Fish...

Glofish danios were created as a pollution monitoring agent. They never would have left the laboratory if people didn't like them.

GM seeds are a threat to farmers and ultimately food crops all over the world. Except for the ones that save lives.
The argument, except against Monsanto law suit predilection, isn't absolute. There's a boat load of gray between black and white.

Then you must not be aware that Japanese restaurants are using glo-fish as a way to offer "Glow-in-the-dark Sushi". There is no gray area. GM is GM. The makers of the glo-danio strain have a similar type patent and yes it gets enforced. It doesn't make world news because at present, it's impact it not as widespread.

The glo-fish strain was supposed to be sterile only it didn't turn out that way.

ks folks...getting way off topic now....

I don't see where? Unless something was deleted?

It's about Genetic Engineering in general.

The point I'm trying to get across is that if we give them an inch(of a danio) they'll take a mile. As in, look what they've done with the plants, and animals already.

Chickens: They altered their "DNA" so they grow so fast their bones can't keep up. So they end up with broken legs, etc.
I'd had enough of seeing mutilated chicken breast, in the breast only packages we used to buy. And broken chicken legs, the last time I bought them at a fast food place. That I've quit eating chicken period. Because I don't care for the idea of these poor critters being tortured their entire lives just so I can eat one once a week.
The pigs wouldn't eat their sorry excuse for a piece of corn. So now they try to patent the pig.
They try(and probably have, because of jerks in washington putting it through because of the cash going into their pockets) to get Patents on Trees, that have been around way longer than they have.
Countless farmers lives destroyed, because of Monsanto and their tactics. Plus who knows how many lives destoyed because of their "food" and chemicals. Remember how Wonderful DDT was "supposed" to be for us?

This is just the tip of the tip of the iceberg...

So if we keep buying there little glow fish... we are in essence, supporting everything else they are doing.

P.S. Whats ks?

I think that did it!

Personally... I think we will eventually screw something up an create some kind of superfish (heh, I imagine a variety of molly that is carnivorous and likes to eat people as the main course XD[welcome to the twisted mind of a teen]) that will backfire and do so much damage to the environment and to humans that we will fear genetic engineering as a whole, regardless of whether it could save human lives or not.

An example of such idiocy... Killer Bees, a bred insect that has become a pain in our rears. Better example, how we have affectively destroyed all variety in our foods, using only the single greatest plant we can create. When something starts to kill that plant, we will have nothing that can survive it.

Humans think they can do evolution's job for it, but we're not exactly the best known species at making good choices...

But we are the only species that gets to make those choices, so we actually are the best at it.

+1

Talking Monsanto and farming is far from topic about glo fish. It's probably best just to not start threads that turn political so easily or lay complete slam to a particular company you may not care for. Thanks.
