I've had my betta for about a year without any problems. Recently, he has become lethargic and stays on the top of the water. Last week, I noticed that whenever he tried to go to the bottom of the tank (he is in a 2.5 gallon), he would float back to the top. I did my research and I believe he is constipated, which lead to his swim bladder problem. I did not have a pea (and could not find one after asking 200 people in my dorm--no joke)...so I gave him an epsom salt bath (1/8 tsp for one gallon). That was on Wednesday, and it is now the next Tuesday. He is now able to swim to the bottom, but he quickly floats right back up. He seems more active as well. He was fed Pepso food over the weekend, and now he is back on HBH Betta bites. I now have peas, so should I get one a try?
Any other suggestions? How long does it usually take to cure a swim bladder problem?
Thanks so much for the help!
