I just switched over from SA Chichlids to African.
I got a pair (so I was told) of Pelvichromis Taenitaus Makoure.
I was wondering if they were really male and female. I'm thinking I got two males...just a gut feeling. I could be wrong. Here is a pic...if anyone knows about them please let me know.
Thanks,

Well, I had to rewrite my post; something weird happened in my PC that the pic appeared too big and blurry. Looking it better now, I think you may have a pair; being the upper fish the male.

I'm sorry, jb-ny. I did some research and then returned back. I think you have 2 males, indeed.

I thought they were 2 males...Anyone need a male Makoure chichlid...I mean cichlid.
There is not alot on this kind Pelvichromis T. at least that I could find.
They are nice...hang out together sifting sand. Haven't bothered my plants.
If anyone has an extra female they would want to sell or trade please let me know

Pitty I live in Australia, my pair have fry about a month old, they're great parents (it's their first batch) If we lived even remotely near I would have given you a female, once they had grown a bit.

And you're right, there isn't many around. But they are slowly becoming a bit more common. And YES they are truly beautiful cichlids, especially the females when they hit the light and they get these gorgous 'shine on thier purple belly.'

Mine havn't disturbed my plants, they love weaving in and out of them.
Good luck on finding a female, and hope you have a great future with them, I know I will =)

If you need any help on information or anything you're more than welcome to PM me!
