not really I just keep a bucket under my python otu take to catch any sand I might want to rinse and put back

That's way better than big multi-coloured pebbles!! Very nice indeed.

I would love to switch to sand too, though I've read that it gets really messy with algae and catfish poop. A lot of folk get frustrated with how quickly it dirties up.

I guess in your case algae and catfish poop won't be applicable (low light and no catties), but I wonder what others have found..???
