Switching from 20 to a 29

oh im sorry oztun, your right, the stand did cost 100 dollars, im sorry, your right, 300-400 dollars it is

After I do the switch should I do more water changes the the weekly or will that be ok. or should I just go by the readings of my test that I do. Hoow often should I test after the switch.

Angels do get 6" but they are very thin fish and do not create that much waste. A pair can even live in a 20 gallon although I suggest at least 29 gallons. The chinese algae eater, and parrot fish will cause some problems. The paradise fish can get agressive, watchout for that. The chinese algae eater will get big and aggresive. Pet stores lie about these animals. Parrot cichlids get huge! Instead of the chinese algae eaters, get otos (really cute your kids would love them), or dwarf plecos (not the common variety!) but clown, rubber nose, or bristle nose plecos.
When you switch over tanks, try to save most of the old water and fish in big plastic containers. Then you can use the old gravel, plus some new gravel in the 29 gallon. fill with the old water (probably 15-20 gallons), then fill up the rest with declorinated water. Use the old filter. You don't even need to cycle the tank.

Thank you for the info. My lfs said the parrots onle get about 4" and I just found out about the chinese algea eater aggression. I will look at a new combo of fish, I wish I found this sight a month ago and not listen to my lfs. I feel bad about hurting my fish. was not on purpose.

also upgrading my tank

Hello,
the input all you guys have for switching tanks has been helpful. I have a 10 gallon and a 20 gallon and I'm planning on upgrading to a 40 gallon. I was thinking of getting a loach or something similar. With an underwater filtration system could a loach get stuck somehow? or what are some other fresh water fish that likes to bury itself in the gravel. And writing all this fish down I think I may have over crowded the 20 gallon, but somehow the fish seem to be doing well

20 gallon tank:
2 mollies
1 swordtail
2 cories
1 otto
1 ghost shrimp
1 dwarf gourami
1 tiger barb
1 blackskirt tetra
2 other tetras like the blackskirt but one has a pink stripe and the other a orange one

10 gallon tank:
1 cory
1 tiger barb
1 albino tiger barb
3 white cloud minnows
2 glowlight tetras

I have a community tank with a chinese algae eater, its of the gold variety. I used to have two of them when I first started out in a 10 gallon, and one would chase the other around, but the other died from wasting away. I was new so I don't what happened. Long story short I haven't seen agression from the other one since. It lives in a 29 gallon community. It hasn't grown in 6 months, and its not very large ,like some of the 8-12 inch ones I've seen. It doesn't bother anyone and does its own thing and mostly sits around or stays in a cave.
