swithcing to live plants! woohoo!!!

Hey Jpap

You'll be better off getting a glass top and buying a 65 watt compact florescent fixture and just running a 55 watt in it. That will give you 1.8 wpg. The ballasts run either.

You won't need CO2 or you can supplement with Excel. I recommend buying the 2 liter bottle.

As far as ferts the bioload/feeding should take care of most of the needs. You might need to add some KNO3 once a month to get the levels stable. Also buy some flourish comprehensive for trace ferts, I dose 5 ml a week.

Look at my sig and you'll see my tanks. The 55 I treat as I described to you. The 75 gallon is a totally different ballgame but the same wpg. The slower growing plants like you have and in my 55 don't go thru the ferts as quickly.

As for UFG/RUFG I have no idea but with the replanting I do I could see where some of those plants could block flow in the plates. Mostly the Vals and Crypts.

Having trouble finding some...can you direct me please?

Got my plants! I'm not much of an aquascaper and everything will definitely need to grow in...now I need to go buy some ferts! I was thinking Green light for KNO3, fleet enema for phosphate and some no-salt for Potassium...sound good?
