Hi folks,

Back with another question. Below is a pic I just took of my tank. There are 2 large swords in it. One is a Marble Queen Radican and the other a Kliener Bar. My question is a simple one I think. Do swords send out stalks/shoots continuously? Or do they just send out a few for a period of time and then stop for awhile?

My reason for asking? Well, the one on the left (the MQR), I have already harvested 2 plantlets from. It has since sent out another shoot with 3 more plantlets starting. Just a while ago, I noticed ANOTHER shoot about 3" long starting out from the base of it. Who knows how many plantlets it will have on it.

The other one, in the middle (the KB), has a shoot with 2 plantlets on it. And has two more shoots. One about 8" long and another about 12". Both only have one plantlet/bud, so far.

Now, if, all but the one that has 3 on it, get 2 plantlets, I'm going to have 13 swords soon. My intent is to sell/trade atleast some of them just for a bit of extra cash for supplies, etc. (Please dont PM me asking for plants. I'll post when/if I decide to part with them.)

Thanks for any insight you can shed on this!

Hmm. I really cannot shed any insight, because the plant you described as having fewer plantlets is one that has minimal requirements, compared with the Marble Queen. I would have expected the results to be opposite.

Depends on the variety of sword and the fetilizers used. Some can go all the time while others will stop and go. I have found no rule of thumb.

Beautiful tank! I hope mine looks half that good someday.

Thanks for the thoughts/info folks. And thank you, gvildawg, for the compliment.
