Help. I have a 29 gallon freshwater tank. I have an angelfish, a puffer, a betta, two tetras, a couple sharks, a gromie, a catfish, placostamis and a japanese blue crawfish. I would like to look into a swordfish, but am not sure if it's even a possibility. Can someone help me with this? I just need some basic info, and if it's even something I am able to do right now.

Your tank as it is isn't a good idea. The fish you have in it are not good for the size of the tank.

Why start asking questions now that you already have a completely inappropriate stocking list?

A good question now would be, "What fish should I keep?"

Is this an honest question?

If it is then you need to look at returning/donating or giving away many of what you have. It’s not just an issue with compatibility but also size and water requirements. Some of those fish get big and others are too agressive.

I would be surprised you haven’t had major issues already.

Even if the people above me weren't correct, I've never heard of a swordfish that gets any smaller than like 5 feet...

heh, I assumed she meant swordtail...but good point…kinda funny… :o

YOU WANT TO GET A SWORDFISH!?!? baaaad idea. even if you get a 2,000g tank, it still won't be big enough! swordfish are some of the most active swimmers in the world, and travel hundreds of miles in a day. (P.S. you're tank is overstocked!!)

My goodness, my daughter posted the question for me because she knows how much I enjoy my aquarium. While I am a novice at having an aquarium, I have tried to be responsible during the setting up process by working closely with the experts at the pet store. If there have been mistakes made it has not been because of anything other than perhaps poor advice from those who guided me.

Take being said, I am sorry if we have upset anybody here by our question. We were simply seeking guidance and hoped to access other's knowledge. We had no idea that that because we are novices that we should not ask questions of the elitists on this site. Rest assured that we will not bother you with any further "poor quality" questions.

Please also rest assured that I have only lost one fish in the 6 months that I have had the tank and that was within days of purchase. The store replaced it and we have not lost another fish. I will purchase further tanks and divide the fish before I allow them to over grow the tank.

Thanks for your time,

Karla

i dont thinks she's coming back... hmm thats sad

I kind of got the same impression she did from the replies. you guys have turned out to be great to me, but you might want to calm down towards the new people. Just a suggestion. :)

sorry, I just don't know why anyone would want to keep a swordfish.
