I picked up two fish from Wal-mart (I know, bad idea, but these ones were healthy and are still alive). One is white and orange and is bigger then my other male platy. I see a small sword stub on the one new platy. Could he be a hybred or no?

Gonna be honest, it just looks like a large platy to me... but I've never kept Platys or Swordstails and am going off of pics I've seen. Very pretty fish regardless :D

Where are you getting that info? Platys certainly get larger than 1" at max size.

I've heard of balloon swords but not sure if they are actually sold or just misidentified. I've never seen a sword that short and round bodied.

A platy that only gets to 1 inch is seriously stunted. To be honest, the deformation of the tail shape looks like erosion that's healing, probably from being kept in poor conditions for a while.

Cool looking platy none the less...

He'll have a much better life with you than at wallyworld!
