I currently have 1 decent size marigold swordtail, one male, one female neon sword, and one other female sword that's larger than all and is almost reddish in color w/ black tail(forgot what its called). Will anything happen in terms of breeding? How would I know? I believe the marigold sword is trying to mate w/ either the neon or the reddish one. He does his backing up thing w/ his 'sword' towards them and follows them around. Im not too experienced in FW things like this. Any help would be great if they are, and what to do. Thanks!

Looks like the male is trying to mate with the females. As what to do? not much, livebeaerers will breed and breed. They are worse than rabbits. The thing with most live bearers, if the females are fertalized, they can hold the sperm for future and use it if the male is removed from the tank. Its only good for a couple of times but that could still be alot of fry.sandiegan said:

The females will start to show a dark spot in the back of the stomach and they will start to swell as the time gets near. Most times it can take up to 21-28 days for the fry to appear.
