I primarily keep primarily low-light plants (java fern, anubius and egeria densa). My fixture can hold two T-8 36" bulbs and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations. I'd like something affordable, assists in plant grow and does not emit a "yellowish" tinge. I don't mind low level lighting as most of the species in the tank also prefer it.

Also, I was wondering if T-10 bulbs could fit in the same fixture? If necessary I could post the fixtures details.

Thanks,

Generally, you can go smaller. If the fixture uses T12 you can use T10 or T8's. If it is designed to run T8's, it may run T12's but not provide enough current to light properly. At least this is my understanding of it.

I like and use ZooMed T8's. Compared to others they're affordable and they offer enough different models (Ultra-sun, Tropic-Sun, Flora-Sun, Ocean-Sun...) that you can get them w/o "yellowish" tinge. The Tropic Sun is 5500K so is going to be the most "yellowish" (though IMO, it isn't, especially if you pair it with another). The Ultra sun is 6500K, more blue/white and the Flora Sun is 8500K which actually looks pinkish. I use TropicSun and FloraSun together. The Ultra sun seemed to wash my tank out. We all perceive colors differently so YMMV.
