I went to my local LFS New World Aquarium in NYC this week and they had some Tropica swords, how had is this plant to grow. Dosing NPK, DIY co2, Seachem Flourish,Seachum Traces. current lighting 2.2 wpg would this be enough for this plant. any help please.
Tropica is not a variety of plant. They are one of the world's premier frowers of aquatic plants and normally they don't sell in the USA since we downt allow plants that don't have bare roots come in. tropical grows a lot of its stuff in pots.
However, most, but not all swords should do fine in your tank. Just be aware they are heavy root feeders. Also most get too big for a 20 gal. Compactas would be a good choice.
There is a species of tropica sword call Echinodorus parviflorus Tropica. It should be treated like an Amazon sword. If you have enough light there should be no problem. Google it. It's a beautiful plant.
Again - there is no species of sword called Tropica. Echinodorus parviflorus 'Tropica' was named after Tropica in 1985 by the Danish botanists Niels Jacobsen and Lauritz Holm-Nielsen. But there are other swords with Tropica in their name. Echinodorus cordifolius 'Tropica Marble Queen' would be another example.
