T5 numero uno, strong like bull!

Julian's advice is dead on. For a tank that size I think 4x54 watt is needed to supply sufficient lighting for a typical array of corals. If you want a lot of SPS or other high light corals then I would recommend 6x54. I'd stay away from the red bulb and probably run a mix of aquablue (which is 11K spectrum) and actinics.

Julian's right that icecaps are the best, but they seem to command a premium price for their brand name. I find that Tek parabolic reflectors are a close second at a cheaper price.

Thanx!! I couldnt see the pics though.. I'll use this info provided and discuss the topic on a ' lighter note' with the guy helping me out to bring my reef to life.:)

HA ha he! Sounds good, I would have just told here to wear sunglasses and some sunblock! lol:) thanks for that. Ive had a chat with my buddy. and he's gonna try and get me a couple of wait for it... 80 watt T5's. He has a few running on his tank. I didnt know you get them in an 80 watt format. Anyway I'll have to wait and see. One option is to get 2 actinic t8's (+-110 watt each) coupled with 15000K white t5's (80 watts, if possible) otherwise 54 watts.
I'll keep you posted!!:)

Ive used 2 T5 actinics with 2 Coralife MH 150w with great results and not much impact on my wallet!
