Well 3 hatched out and are doing well, they will be 2 days old this evening. so far so good, lets hope they last a longer than poor little Finkid (RIP)

Fingers crossed for you, sweetie.:) Most of my blue orandas' eggs were infertile. Ah well...It's just a start for the young brats.:duh:

All 3 still wriggling this morning, they seem to like to hide in the weed a lot more than Finkid did, i so so hope at least 1 makes it :goldfish: they are having twice daily water changes. they are in a small 1/2 liter tub in the 13 liter tank, i have the filter running in the tank and do a water change by pouring out the old water and re-filling the tub,and then i do a partial water change on the tank once the babies are done so the water can sit for another 12 hours or so with them floating around on the top so the water is always exactly the same temperature in the tank and the tub. so far so good

Good update, hun.

I found out about 30-50 eggs might hatch.:D The blue orandas are being a PITA. They seem to be ready to spawn again. I'll have to leave the eggs this time. No way can I accommodate more eggs. I also found out Chingling, Summers, Velvet, Melody and the rest also spawned.:duh: I'll be thankful they ate all the eggs before I had a chance to save any just so I didn't have to resist the temptation to save more eggs and end up losing so much space.

 know that feeling, i always hope they will spawn while im just walking out the door so i know il miss them all. never happens that way.

ive recently rescued a large blue oranda (i think female) from a small tank, she doesnt appear all that stunted, i think the tank was around 1.5-2feet long. i will have to post pictures up of her, she almost has a saddle of orange/brown on her back on one side, it spreads up into her dorsal fin. shes around 7 inches and is the biggest in the tank now. i have no idea how old she is though. have seen pics of your 3, they are so gorgeous :p:

the 3 fry i have are either orange and white oranda or panda oranda mixed with red cap oranda, panda oranda or blue oranda. they are so tiny, i used a pipette to remove them from their tub while i cleaned it properly this morning and i gently squirted them into a 5ml clean medicine spoon so i could see them properly, was so strange seeing 3 fish swimming in a 5 ml spoon :nilly:

im not sure what to feed them on though. they have a couple of pieces of hornwort in their tub, they seem to take absolutely no notice of frozen artemia, so i crushed up a few saki-hikari fancy goldfish pellets into a powder and mixed it with a little water and used the pipette to drip some into their tub. i saw 1 grab a hold of a little bit and it looked like he was chewing  but he didnt seem to get any off it and it was too big even though it was a teeny tiny crumb of a mini-pellet. im worried sick they are starving to death and maybe thats what killed finkid.

right now i cant afford any fry food, and even if i could i have no transport until saturday and its a 30 mile round drive to the lfs. i do have some tropical flake food but i didnt want to crumble some of that in incase it may not be good for them. at the moment im cleaning out uneaten food every few hours and adding a little new stuff. overnight i leave them with no food just the clean tub with the hornwort in it. would there maybe be a chance they are getting something from the hornwort to eat?

The plants should harbor microorganisms. I'll be using my hair algae grown from the old pond for them, green floating algae possibly and then hardboiled egg yolk suspended into the water. Also have dozens of water lettuce for them to dig around. Not sure if they can eat small bits of gel foods though. I can't risk a big chunk and end up polluting the water. Not a big loss with egg yolk though since my adult goldfish absolutely love the egg whites.:)

hmm, il add some of the algea and plants from my hospital tank, its growing well in there, its just been left to the snails for a couple of months now.

hopefully these will work. this is the new rescue, shes brought my numbers up to 13 fancies and 1 common in my tank. shes between 6-7 inches including her tail.
