Talk to me about filters...

Minimum for discus should be around 6 individuals. This spreads aggression out. IF your buying juvis, don't plant the 55, if you want them to grow out properly and good, you need to do a bare bottom set up till they reach about 5inches. If you don't you run a real risk if stunting, footballed body shape, and inadaquate feeding. A bare bottom tank with discus in it looks pretty darn nice, I have one that I'm running two emperor 180's on and it works fine. With young discus you really need to be prepared to do AT LEAST a 50% water change every other day, if not every day. Also do not get your fish from a pet store, their fish are most likely infested with parasites, and have not gotten the care they need. Consider running two smaller heaters in the tank, that way if one malfunctions its not gonna cook $200 worth of fish. If you want some more help on this though, get hold of me though PM I'd be more than happy to help ya out, and I have a lot of connections in the Discus community. Just too many people on here think they know more about discus than they do, if I don't know the anwser to your questions I can give you phone numbers to people that do. So get hold of me bud.

Yes I have heard of them, and I'm not too impressed with them, most of the fish they show on their site have a footballed shape, and some of them their eyes are too large compared to the body, they are based outta NJ. I would checkout what Cary Strong has, http://www.greatlakesdiscus.com Get a stock list from him, and at some point this summer I will start getting fish from Cary for resale, I should be able to beat most of his retail prices. So if you want something from Cary let me know what, and when I do make an order I will be sure to get them for you. Also if you need ANY info about discus, call Cary, he will be more than willing to talk to you and anwser questions, he's a super guy. Look into some of the forums as well, http://www.discusasahobby.com is a super place for info. Ryan one of the mods on there is now Wayne Ngs sole US importer, Cary posts on there frequently, Jeff from http://www.Discusfarm.us posts on there, Hans from http://www.discushans.com (the US Stendker discus distributor, I will also be getting young adult fish 5" and up for resale from Hans and will be able to beat his prices), Dan from http://www.Gulfcoastdiscus.com, Chuck from http://www.chuckbam.com, and Lee from http://www.seatlekoi.com (don't let the name fool you, he has some nice Discus). Just a few sources, and as always there is aquabid, just be careful who you buy from on there.

I put up the wrong URL....this is the one I was thinking of...out of Los Angeles...

http://www.discusfarm.us/index.htm

I had read at thier site about how they got into the hobby and how they take care of the fish...hatch and raise them. It sounded pretty good, what I had read...was wondering if they are really that good.

I see you have them on your list of refernces, so I assume that means they do know their stuff.

Thanks Nakatu !
