A new species of snail discovered in Pennsylvania is the believed to be the only snail with the ability to talk. The snail, placed under the family Planorbidae, has a coiled, planispiral shell that is lined with hair. The snail's binominal name is Planoris jinkzae.
The snail was discovered by Dr. Doctor von Scientist while taking water samples from a river. Intriguied by the snail's mohawk, von Scientist took a specimen back to his laboratory, where he then discovered the snail was able to speak. Asked what the snail's first words were, von Scientist said "It just started singing Justin Bieber songs, at a really high pitch. Never would've guessed by the mohawk that it was a Bieber fan". von Scientist later noted that the singing was simply a defense mechanism, similar to the girly screams used by Lupina aprilfoolsi to deter predators. Along with it's singing, the snail also spoke about the low pH of the water in it's container, it's concerns about the Clown Loach staring at it from another container across the room, and how creepy leeches are. The snail is also believed to be able to make it's own food. Traces of fruits, vegetables and Knox Original Unflavored Gelatin mix were discovered in the areas where Planorbis jinkzae were present.
As this is a newly discovered species, the DEP has recommended that it be left alone in the wild until a conservation status can be determined. Contact with the snail is also discouraged, as it is a known carrier of the deadly disease Bieber Fever.
