Tall plants?

I would really like to add some taller plants to my tank. This is a picture of what it looks like now:


It just seems way too "blah" there in the top/center... So, I Need taller plants for the back. Any suggestions?
(And I know the Mondo grass isn't aquatic.... but I REALLY like it! Is there anything that is similar and aquatic?)

Right now I have a 17W flouresent, but 2-28W CF are on thier way, so it is about to get a huge jump in light. Also, the lfs has a poor selection of plants, leaving me with Petsmart plants, which the selection too doesn't change very often.
...and with the addition of the lights, I was kindda thinkin' about getting CO2 for it as well, any suggestions in that department? It's a 29 gallon Tall tank. :)
 
If you're looking for grassy type plants then some of the val species are perfect. Jungle val and italian val grow fast and tall. I've taken italian val out of my growout tank that was taller than me.

There are plenty stem plants that get tall and grow fast. In fact most stems will grow taller than most tanks. For easier plants I'd recommend bacopa, anacharis, hornwart and some hygros. There's also a bunch of crypts and aponogetons that get very large. SWords, crinums, lotus, etc. Honestly the list is endless.

For an alternative to mondo grass, try dwarf sag. And since you're getting new lights, some ludwigia repens and red temple might add a splash of color.

One thing I notice is the oranaments you have and the blue substrate. They detract from the plants you already have in there.
 
Cool, thanks for your suggestions! I'm hoping that once these plants grow and if/when I add more, that they will fill in and the blue/white won't be so.... bright.

Cabomba is also a good stem plant that grows tall.

my last 55 I had Cabomba that would grow like 3-4 inches a week. and it's hard to kill.

Finally got rid of the mondo grass...

So, I finally got rid of my Mondo grass... the smaller ones were turning, so I decided to just say goodbye to it all at once (although, the largest one is outside my backdoor... figured I'd see how it does in dirt). And I also got two new plants:
Frill & a Crypt


**When I was taking this picture of the PLANTS all of the fish wanted thier pic taken too... if I wanted it of the fish, I never would have gotten one!! :p: **

I agree-- Valisneria spiralis and other vals look really nice as a background plant in taller tank IMO.. also, another of my favorites that you could try once you upgrade your lighting is Alteranthera Rosaefolia, a really beautiful red plant which when healthy looks amazing.
