tang algae eaters

should i scrub them off of everything?

its a 10gal

brown rusty lookin crap. when i scrubed it came off some areas in large clumps that looked nasty as heck. there was some growin and flowin in the filter return, so i removed alot of it and when i scrubed it off it mixed with the water and made it real nasty so i vacumed as much of it out as i could and i used the method yall said to use and got it almost all clean. i left it on 2 of the walls and the intake tube. ill clean them in a few days but i didnt think i should change anymore water 2day bcuz i did like 90 freakin percent change

ive got flourecent bulbs that fit the incandescent hood

yeah i got the little screw in bulbs. the hood is made for incandescant bulbs but they sell special flourescents for it.

Yeah i know what you are talking about those wal-mart compacts tubes right like the ones you replace outside on the house they screw in, if so be careful using those they could be a fire hazard due to the incad's not being proper wattage and handling in all..

Honestly if your not growing aquatic plants a reg 10gal glass lid with a reg florescent fixture would be suffice with that 10gal.. another route i went was upgrading all of my lights to compacts like my 10gal's and 20gal i went with the coralife 20" 50/50 compact and i havent noticed any problems yet, so far so good aye..

i wish! i dont got the money to do that. i relize the fire hazard but they have the same wattage as the bulbs recomended for it, so its all good. and plus it has a plastic water guard over the lights
