Tanganyikan Cichlid tank

I believe that's what I started with as there weren't any territory problems at first. Then when the fry began to mature (not sure when they reach spawning age, I've heard at an inch) the males started to get more aggressive with each other. My dominant male likes to think he controls the entire shell pit, a 12" x 12" area or so.

so you know i have to chime in aye, heheehe, yep vickie most definitely start out small soon enough your colony will be at great numbers and will soon out grow your tank with the multi's, my 55gal is full of them and agreed transcriptus is by far the smallest of julido's to go with, brichardi's and shellies do not mix multi's can hold their own in a fight amongst themselves but a brichardi will be too much for them there both colony breeders and a conflict will ensue lelupi's are great as well but lelupi get 4 to 5 inches and will crop down your colony of multi's fry if given the chance, have fun with the tang's..
