Well my tank that I got last month see previous thread http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22665 Is in its third week of its cycle and I just go the lights for it. Another great deal. I got two commercial lighting fixtures. You know those type that hang from the ceiling that have the built in fan, PC's and Metal Halides. Each Fixture has two 32 watt PC actinics and a single 400 watt Metal Halide in which I will be running the 20K XM bulbs.

So over the 100 gallon I now have 800 watt of Metal Halide and 128 watt of actinic. I am going to move my moon light over from the 45 gallon so I should get a pretty good light cycle.

Just wanted to share some excitement. Now I just need to save and get a better skimmer on the system next month.

Holy Cow! That's a great light setup. You'll have to post some pics once you start stocking!

I need a digital camera :-( my wife use to do photography and we have a great SLR but those have to be developed when the roll is through. I will have to see if I can get some one at work to lone me the digital camera.

Yeah and the kicker the lights only cost me 550 total.

Great price! We're picking up 2 MH units for the reef 120--I'm not paying, but I know it's pricy. Already have VHO's that will be pulled off the 65 and put into the new canopies.

What wattage on your units?

Yeah the price still hurt after putting all the Metal Halides on my 45 gallon. I didn't plan on upgrading this soon but the price was right.

If I can make any reccomendations it would be the XM bulbs. At 12 months the spectrum shift is still less that 4% on the bulbs that I have tested.

I just got the same deal from someone here for a little bit cheaper, they only thing is that it is missing the ballist for the VHOs but I am ordering the ballist some time next month.
My setup is:
Solid Oak MH Lighting fixture has PFO reflectors and 4” cooling fans on each end. 2 x 20k 400 watt Radium lights (2 months old) driven by PFO HQ1 ballast. Has german endcaps for VHO lamps.

But congradulations, that is a great deal and would be perfect for that tank. I know your excitement because I am in the same boat as you are, my tank has been running for about 3 weeks today. I need to have my water tested and see how that goes.

Yeah luckily mine all had working ballasts, and the owner gave me all new bulbs, the XMs and th PC's. He had gotten the fixtures from a store that went out of business down here. They auctioned off all there equipment and he bought most of it and is reselling it. So a good quarter of what I paid just covered the new bulbs.
