and im allready off to a bad start
as some of you know petsolutions forgot to add one bag of eco complete in my order :swear:, so instead of three bags i have two, not enough to get me to a 3" plant bed.
they are sending me out the other bag but it wont be here for another four days at least, so my delima begins with the plants floating in my tank half filled with water :(
good news is the plants arrived gorgeous!! thanks aquariumplants .com :thm:
i pray they will make it until the eco arrives and i can truly set up
so until then this is all i got..floating plants and lots of worrying :shakehead:
on the good side at least it will be easy to clean up the dead fallen leaves and bits before the substrate goes in :grinyes:

well....you could go ahead and add what you have (unless you're doing something like peat on the bottom) and then get the plants down until the other bag comes in.

<ducks for cover for suggesting>

I'm not big on the floating either. I also temporarily plant them and then figure out from there.

yeah thats where i was torn too, i kept going back and forth in my head between floating them or just setting up with the 2 bags i have and plant them in the substrate.
but then i was thinking maybe that is more stress on the plants than just floating them??

drain the tank, dump the eco complete in, fill carefully, add one packet of water clarifier and then plant the plants. when you get the other bag of eco, rip them all out and replant. add as much clarifier that you need

yeah?...and the plants will be ok??

well the cambomba seems happy, its sending up flowers :)
most of the plants are weighted, its just the vals and dwarf sag that are actually floating
can i place a few rocks on the bottom and wedge the vals and sag inbetween them to keep them down?
i dont have any plant supplies like those metal bands or anything so i have to make do from what i have in the house

not so good pic, but heres the cambomba flowering

*edit*
i got the vals and sags weighed down with a few rocks
i think this should be ok for now

sometimes the answers come to us as soon as we say help. This should do just fine till you get the rest of the eco. See floating does have some benefit. great news on the flowering.
