Have you thought about purchasing a 33 gallon long? They use those at Petco stores and put two dividers in each of them to create the "bank of tanks" look. They are just as long as a 55 gallon so you're getting more of what you want (horizontal space) without having to do all the upkeep that a larger tank needs. (I know, same upkeep just larger quantities of everything) I could just imagine all the fun things you could do with a tank like that! Put some plants in there!!!
