Tank change, cycle?

The water will not be that much of a benefit. Substrate, decor and filter media from the other tank will greatly reduce the cycle time.

FWIW, I upgraded one of my 29's to a 55 a couple weeks ago.

Used same gravel, decor, plants, filter (with addition of one from the other 29), about 12 gallons of the old water and of course the fishies!

I saw little change in the tanks. It might have been that all that I did was a larger water change when you get down to it...

Yeah the only thing I'm changing is switching from gravel to sand, rest will be the same. I can use the old filter subtrate for awhile.

Don't worry about "buying" bacteria to put in your tank. Slowly increase your stocking, a couple of fish every 10-12 days and let the tank settle by its self. Monitor daily and do water changes as required to keep ammonia/nitrites at zero and nitrates at 20 or less.
