Tank cleaned!

ok, this morning before i went to work i cleaned the tank with white viniger and used a hose to rince it, and i rinsed it really good, then i brought it in and dried it and left it to air out, know it is aired out, shiney and no odor to it at all really!!, so all i have to do know is order the silicone and seal it and then wait 72 hrs for the next step, so before i order the sealent i wsant to make sure i order the stuff i need to have for the next step, salt, filter etc, so what should i order tomarrow from drsfostersmith to get me to the cycling part?

It should be good man. I would stick to basics for the cycle just a couple of heaters, power head base rock etc, live rock. Throw in one cocktail shrimp and away you go!

ok cool, but dont i need salt for the water? also my base rock can be fake, but i have to have a chunk of live rock right? how big do u think the live rock should be for a 33 gallon tank?and is a power head just for water movement, so i still need a filter when the powerhead is running? and does the cocktail have to be dead,(or is the cocktail shrimp the ones you buy in the store for human eating? thank you max for your info,

guppy I think the salt in the water was implied, as far as the rock goes yes you can seed non-live rock with live rock but it takes time and the less live rock you have the longer your cycle is going to take. As far as size of an actual piece of live rock, that is going to depend on how you want to aquascape your tank. I personally like to have some large and medium pieces to place together so the fish have holes to swim/hide in I have chunks as large as 20 lbs each and as small as 3 lbs. It also should be noted that different types of Live Rock have different densities so one piece that is 5 lbs might look larger/smaller than another type of the same weight.

The powerhead is just to move the water around the tank correct as for the filter are you using it to create your biological filtration or is it just to clarify the water (make it clear IE carbon). If it is for biological filtration then you need to turn it on when you start your cycle as it needs to build up its supply of bacteria.

The shrimp is a raw shrimp that you can purchase at your local grocery store for human consumption. Wrap it in some old (but clean) panty hose for easy removal. And yes it should be dead.

ok thanks guys, so if i go all live rock do i need any extra stuff besides $$$,lol, does it keep a better tank,

I have only ever cycled with all LR, but you can read wantvws thread on his tank.. He used only some LR and his seemed to go quite well. I can't comment on whether it is going to keep a better tank or not as eventually even dead rock will become LR so ultimately I think that point would be moot.

how long does it take for fake rock to bcome live? Also does any one have some Live rock i can buy?, becouse i only need a chunk for right know and i can only find it in bulk and no less than 50 bucks, so if any has a chunk they can sell me that would be great,
