i have quite a few live plants in my tank now kinda hard to siphon around them do you take your plants out and syphon where they where? or will the plants die from pulling there roots and stuff?

Get a smaller diameter siphon, if you can. I'm almost at the point of giving up in one tank, only because I use UGF plates with a Magnum 350 in place of the airlifts. It's 4 UGF plates linked by a PVC manifold leading into the Magnum inlet. So far, so good.....

how big is the tank? If you are finding it very very hard and dont have specialist fish then:

1. you may have too many plants

2. Native is right, get a smaller one

With a lot of plants and a lower fish-load, I quit siphoning all together. I still did water changes, but didn't do the gravel-vacuuming bit. The only time i really cleaned the gravel, was if i was doing a major replanting and had to move things around anyway.
