I am starting up an aquarium cleaning and maintaining service. I am looking for any tips/tricks anyone might have. Any help wouold be appreciated. Thanks.

Fw, sw, or both?

first thing I would do is build a powered gravel vaccuum system.
I'd use a big water tank to hold any waste water..

and put everything on a cart.
Hmmm. Maybe I should do this too!

I thought about doing that. . . the biggest issue for me was insurance. have you looked into that?

Advertise and be prepared to be on call 24/7.

I would see about working at one in your locale first, to see how the business is done. Then steal the client list they assign you. Know of a couple of guys who have done that in Chicago and make a decent living. I thought about it lately, but with the economy the way it is I'm holding off since my job is somewhat secure now.

Thanks for all the info. I have already designed a power gravel vac, it should work really well.
I was planning on all aspects, FW, SW and reef.
As far as working for someone else...well there isnt anyone else in this area, the closest is 45 min away.
As far as insurance, i thought of that but havent priced it yet. Probably pretty pricey.
