tank constuction

I am looking too build an aquarium.This will be my first adventure of this sort.I have most of the details worked out,but I do have one hangup.I am constructing a 150gal. tank with .5 glass and the only thing I cant find is the metal frames that surround the top and bottom.Are these even neccesary,and what other options/ideas does anyone have

the frames are not neccessary, assuming your using good quality silicone, properly sized glass, and a solid top support system.
