Tank Dilema - which tank to buy?

as of right now, I am really starting to lean heavily towards the Aqueon (taller) tank with the traditional silicone..

I am beginning to think that the tank dimensions in the long run are more important than a bit of algae showing on silicone and I do think that a brand new Aqueon tank should not give me a problem leak wise over the long run..

I hope :)

I just bought an Aqueon 75g and I can tell you, for certain, that it is not warranteed if you don't buy their stand. (It broke on the way home from the store :( )

my AGA is 18 years old.
sounds like a matter of preference, as both tanks have the same quality, and the same price tag. so your decision is purely based on the warranty, and the appearance..

Is the glass the same thickness?
I would go with the taller tank. Whatever is bigger for my money.

The proportions of the aqueon are a lot nicer. My vote goes for that one.

I think that if, as mentioned, you need to have the AGA aquarium tank on an AGA stand, which I won't be, the warranty is a non-issue since the local tank warranty is only 90 days anyway..

I believe the glass is the same thickness.

I emailed the local guys and their 150 is made with 1/2 inch thick glass and weighs 275 pounds ()

the Aqueon tank weighs 281 pounds (:eek:) but you also have 2 inches extra height so in terms of glass thickness they would have to be equal.

I think I should definitely go for the 29 inches in height. I will have to get a tank quote from the local guys to really be able to make a decision (ie they build me a tank that is 72x18x29).

if the price is say, $50 more its probably worth it for the black seals.

more than that? probably not and I would go with the stock Aqueon tank..
