Ok ive got the pH sorted out, but im still not absolutely sure about the salt procedure....

Sorry pisces22, I missed that reply for some reason. The total level in your tank should be 1-3 tsp so add enough for each gallon in the tank once and then you only need to add more if you do water changes which in this case you probably won't be doing until the end of the two weeks . Once the salt is added it stays there untill it is removed via water changes.
