I think I'm going to divide one of my 10gal tanks into thirds and have a betta montage (2 bettas, 3-6 frogs, 2-4 snails, drift wood, java moss, river rocks / sand / gravel) and turn the other into a cory tank (2 spotted, 2 emerald, and my gourami), the only problem isn't I havn't quite decided how to go about doing this.
My first reaction was: "Glass and silicon! DIY!" but I'm worried that water flow would be hampered by this. I can easily see the water being 78 degrees in the first division (where ever the heater is housed), and the next division over being 74 and the next step over 70-72. I could have like 20-30 holes drilled into each piece but that could make them structurally unsound (I'm moving in three months) and may cost as much as a new tank.
The second thing that came tom mind was buying dividers. Something like this would actually be perfect. However, and this is where it gets tricky, I was trying to figure out someway to allow the frogs and snails free reign of the tank. Obviously I could raise the divder 1/4" in. or so to give the frog space to scoot through... but the snails will have to stick to the glass to move anywhere. =/ I'm not even sure it's possible to allow some animals free reign and keep other sequestered when they are similar sizes... but it'd be nice.
Anyway, what do you guys think would be the best and most effective (and cheapest! I can't be buying individual filters for each section) method that will still look good?
