Would anyone know if mercury kills live rocks? If you are wondering how mercury got in the tank,my triggerfish(which is now dead) broke the hydrometer, which let out mercury, which in turn killed all of my fish.

On the plus side, I'm moving the flowerhorn and pleco to the 75gal.

That is so sad!

Mercury is toxic and will probably kill all of the living things on your rock.

Don't dump the water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Call an environmental clean-up company. They will probably take care of a small spill like that for free, but mercury must not get into the environment. Basically anything in that tank is contaminated and should be properly disposed of.

You might think I'm over reacting. I'm not, I teach chemistry. Mercury and it's compounds are some of the most toxic things on the planet.

He is right. Mercury will probably kill anything in that tank. I am so sorry for your loss..... I wonder why that trigger take a bite of ur hydometer....

Sorry for the loss!
