I was wondering around the Big Orange Retail Giant(BORG) and I saw they had play sand and also I found a nice colored paver base and paver sand. Would the base work, it had nice color and different sized pieces. Thanks

It is best to use aragonite sand (comes in a variety of colors) or crushed coral for substrate in BW tanks, to buffer the pH & keep it steady, around 8.
Well, if your tap water has a nice high pH of 8 and stays stable at 8 without a drop after letting sit a few days, then there is no reason you have to use aragonite or crushed coral. Many people do use it anyway just so that it does stay stable over time.
However, if your water has nice high tds (total dissolved solids) and pH, then you might be able to use regular sand just fine.
