It might take several days before some of them start opening up again, and it could be weeks before they look more like they should.

yeah, even if you think the coral is dead, don't take it out, unless you are absolutely sure it is gone... completely crumbling up etc.

Some corals may really seem very dead, and die off significantly before they come back.
