ok, very very very shortly my discus are moving into their new home. 100G. there are 5 now. what can be put in with them, I have a sand bottom with Javamoss and java fern. would Cory's work or somthing like them? there's only one pleco in there and it's a Scarlet Royal. any suggestions?

GK...I have a few apistos in with mine, males for an interesting and active bottom. From my earlier research on tank mates...

The feeling with the apisto geeks over at apistogramma.com is that apistos will be ok at discus temps, but will just age faster (2-3 year life span as opposed to 3-4). A. diplotaenia, A. Paucisquamis, A. Hongsloi, and A. macmasteri were specific suggestions. Just stay away from A. borellii (likes cooler water)

they dont have apisto here. any suggestions?. I am thinking about some Corydora for the bottom

Sounds reasonable, do not know offhand about any downside to them and discus.

Another Q I have is, how many Corydora and how many tetra?

Cory's

Cory's are fine with discus, but it would be best to seek a species that prefer slightly warmer water, as many cory species prefer temps in the low to mid 70's. Dwarfs, bronze, and blacktops come to mind...they should do ok at discus temps and there are other cory species that will tolerate warmer water. Years ago when I kept discus I kept bronze cory's with mine and they were prefectly compatible.

have 3 now, dont need a 4th.. to expensive
