Tank mates for a Senegal bichir..?

I'll only do the $1 gallon deal at Petco and I hate 55s. The 40b is the biggest and a good foot print for him to turn and all. It would be just him in there. Unless I can find a bigger tank for cheap w/delivery. I don't have a truck and a 40b or a 55 is the biggest that will fit.

Yes, there were no other fish that could of done it. There are green cory and a few Oto cats, the goldfish he bit and him. He was with them for maybe 3 weeks and then 3 golds lost an eye, 1 lost a tail and the other lost a few fin ends. As soon as I removed him, it stopped. Some were small goldies, some slow, others commons and deff. bigger than his mouth.

I really like him, he's oddly cute and real cool. He will stay in the 75 until I can find him another good tank. I'm not gonna rush getting the mumba, he's having a lot of fun in the 75.

A 40B would be okay as long as it is only him in it.. Throw a AC70 on there and you are all set..

I use to feed mine Hikari Sinking Carnivore Pellets as their main daily food and then feed them crawlers a couple times a week.. They loved them. When I fed my Jardini Crickets they would come up and eat them sometimes as well....

LOL.....so off the wall with that recommendation....
Wait till he finds out that they get 12" he will recommend a 1000+ gallon pond! LOL

If he behaves like that, then I'd say he'd be best in a 40B alone. That would be a great tank for him with plenty of floor space

Yea, and I like 40s too, I have two of them now, just awesome floor space. I don't like tall tanks, you need tall plants, tall fish and your always shoulder deep in water. With my old 90g [I'm a girl, btw] my whole arm would be in and my bra would get soaked with me on a high stool and all the fish swarming me for food, lol.

He doesn't seem to like freeze dried shrimp, krill, etc that's a mix container. They always get stuck on the intake. Rarely he would come up and take it from my fingers[always such a kick to hand feed fish] so I just went with spending more $ for frozen blood worms, he adores them, all my fish do, and a 1x a week bit of hot dog, raw. I'm hoping I'll be able to keep shrimp and excess I will feed him fresh, maybe some beef heart, too.

Walmart had 8+ inch Sens and they were crazy ugly. But I'm watching my guy grow from a 2in weak Petsmart fish and just adore him. A face only a parent could love, eh? Lol!

Large Rainbowfish or Congo Tetras would work.

Buy raw frozen shrimp, 31-40's (thats the count per pound) go on sale all the time. Take one or two out and defrost them, remove the shell and cut it up in little chunks. My bichirs loved them...

They will also each fish filets from the store. I would feed them small strips of Red Snapper.. They seemed to love that as well..

I have one with 6 Silver Dollars. Full size SD's at that. Have never seen him make any moves towards them in an aggressive fashion.

African brown knife, pictus cats, any fish bigger that its head, honestly the are pretty calm as long as it doesn't fit in his mouth you are fine. but no bettas i found that one out the hard way.
