Tank Mates for Goldfish

Maybe when they grow. I will get the Tetratec in about 2 weeks. Is it too strong for my 10 gallon. I recently (a month ago) bought a Whisper 20 (105 GPH). I was gonna get a Whisper 30 (145GPH), but I thought, "I have a 10 gallon tank, and Fantail Goldfish are poor swimmers, so I better not". That is why I worry. I don't want to stress out my Goldfish. Has anyone had any expierence with them? :dive2:

This thread is stupid.

fishieperson321 I've read the advice and questions posted here in both of your threads, and they are about the worst I've seen. Which is saying something.

The 10 gallon is too small for your goldfish. You've been told that, I believe mvigor made a comment and you took it poorly. I'll say it too. You shouldn't have that fish in that tank.

So now you say you'll get a bigger tank "when it grows". It won't grow. It will become stunted. Stunted fish's organs outgrow their body size and they die a painful, uncomfortable death.

Now you're asking about getting another inappropriate fish for a 10 gallon, a pleco. The pleco is tropical and the goldfish isn't. Plecos will damage goldfish. Plecos can reach 18+ inches.

I've seen this on someone's sig (I believe monkeytoes) "There is no excuse for ignorance, everything you know can now be found on the internet."

Good sentiment. There can be such a thing as a stupid question. Just as there can be stupid answers (see everyhing pran has ever posted).

I realize this is a newbie section, but just by researching information on this site and a few others about species requirements you would have answers to your questions. You're just lazy.

That and so far you've disregarded or discounted most of the good advice posted to you. For that reason, I probably won't read future threads you post.

I am getting a bigger tank in about 3 months. I am in debt right now. The website I went to told me that I could have one goldfish for 5 gallons of water since they are hardy fish!!! But until I get that bigger tank I want to know if the Tetratec will work. I want advice on that, not what I have my goldfish in temporarily!!!! Maybe I should take them back to the petstore and forget about fishkeeping.  You guys sure do know how to make a newbi feel verrrrry bad!!!! I feel like I killed the fish!!!!

if you're in debt and you're doing your best and changing the water like it's your religion your filter will do and your fish will make it until you can afford the new tank

By the way check out freecycler there are lots of aquariums for free in your area through thier program- just set up your account to allert you to the words aquarium and tank and you'll have one for free in no time

the reason grafic lost his temper and i backed him up is that we get a lot of people on this forum who post, post and repost waiting for the answer they want to hear and it take time and resources away from questions that haven't been answered yet.

if you have another thread that's similar explain at the begining that your new post is a result of what you learned in your other post and based on what you've gotten from that you'd like this other bit of information- make it clear what you plans are when you know that we'll all freak about your tank as it is now

don't cry and lash out- just learn from our testyness(patience is abounding around here but we all reach our breaking point helping newbs all day long)

we're here to help just hold up your end of the bargin and you'll learn a lot an make a few friends

chin up kid! :D
cheers-Kyle

I read on the net that Plecos suck the slimecoat off the Goldfish. Especially slow swimmers like fantails. Anyone had any expierience with that?

DO NOT put plecos with your goldies (not unless u want them to die). i had plecos once with mine.. suck the life out of them. seriouslly.
