I have some old milk crates..the heavy wood type from the '30's & 40's. They have a metal frame and are made of oak. I can stack then and I think I can put a tank on them, and was wondering what some tank dimensions are. They will accomodate a tank up to 15 inches wide, and I can sit stacks together...they are 14 1/4 inches wide, so I figure by the time I set them next to each other, I can get up to either 30" or almost 45" long. What sizes of tank might fit on somehting like this?
Would I need to put a board across for the tank to sit on? Otherwise tank would have crosspieces to sit on that would run the width of the tank, but not the length, as there are small metal posts at the corners and it couldn't sit all the way out to the back and front edges(i did take this into account when measuring).
I was thinking maybe a 20 long, but don't know the exact measurements...does someone have them they can post? Or does anyone have any other suggestions?
These are old crates from my husband's family dairy and I have them around, it would be a great way to display them and have them be useful too.
