Well, I want to move my tank in front of the window where it will get natural sunlight. I want to make it the less stressful as possible (for me and the fish). So first thing I will do is drain enough water so that rock is barely submerged. When I drained half of the water, I'll net the fish out into the container with the water. Then I'll drain as much water as possible, without draining the sand, into a container and put the rock and inverts in there. Then I'll lift the tank onto the ground or table and move the stand over. From there I'll lift the tank back onto the stand. On the same day I'll Put the rock and inverts into the tank and whatever water was in the container. If it isn't a sandstorm, or it settles soon, I'll also add all the fish the same day. I'll also have a bucket of fresh saltwater on hand incase anything happens. Does everything sound good?

Its a plan, just personally against moving glass tanks with anything in them.

There is no way you are lifting that tank with the sand in it... Incase you haven't noticed - there is no place for you to grip the tank... Your going to need at least 3 people (including you) to move this... I tried it on a 29 with two and ended up removing the sand... The major issue is getting it of the stand, since after you get it in the air you can grab it by the bottom... All that being said, the tank did have 50 ilbs of sand in it, so if your running like a 1 inch sandbed, you'll be fine.

If anything, I must admit it's making me cringe, just try this to start with. Get a big crow bar and a thin piece of paling, and I am assuming that the stand is very, very ridged, put the paling on the ground (mainly to protect the ground) and get the crowbar under the stand and have a little go at lifting it and moving it a bit away from the wall, but you can very little inch it to a new location. I have used this technique to move a full tank away from a wall, and vise versa, but never a long distance. However this was on floor boards as well which would make it easier. If anything, I think you will appreciate the weight.

In the end I'm with rbishop.... it just happens soooo quickly... crack.....Doh!, Doh!, Doh!

I'll be removing the sand :grinyes:
